Strange match problem

I had downloaded a charge into my Credit Card account. I then did a
mobile deposit of the same amount into my checking account. When I
downloaded my checking account Quicken "matched" the deposit with the
charge, in the sense that the categories in each entry were the other
account. But these were two transactions!

If I changed the category in either the other disappeared!

I tried downloading the deposit and unmatching it but that didn't help.

I finally entered the deposit in the register, downloaded and manually
matched to that entry and finally had a correct register.

Any ideas what's going on here?

Could I have disconnected the two entries without losing one?
