Magical Truffle Swirls

Truffles
6 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate -- cut up
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup half and half
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Dough
1/2 cup butter -- softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate -- melted and cooled
1 1/2 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
White Truffle Icing
1 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons milk
Chocolate Truffle Icing
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate -- melted and cooled

Truffles: Melt chocolate in a heavy 2 qtuart saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Stir in butter, half and half and powdered sugar.
Shape mixture into 1" balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Freeze uncovered about 30 minutes or until set.
Beat butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and melted chocolate in a medium bowl with electric mixer on medium speed. Stir in flour and salt until dough holds together. If dough is dry, mix in 1-2 tablespoons milk.
Mold portions of dough around frozen chocolate balls to form 1-1/2" balls.
Place about 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 12-15 minutes or until set. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack and cool completely.
Dip tops of half of the cookies into white truffle icing and tops of remaining cookies into chocolate truffle icing. In remaining icing, stir in enough powdered sugar until stiff enough to pipe.
Place each in a decorating bag or plastic bag with a small corner snipped off.
Pipe chocolate icing on white iced cookies in a swirl design by starting at center and slowly moving tip in circular motion until top is covered.
Pipe white icing on chocolate iced cookies.

White Truffle Icing: Mix all ingredients until smooth.
Chocolate Truffle Icing: Mix all ingredients until smooth.
